  5. Designed specially for Micro Channel applications, the ACL MC16 from Tekdata
  6. offers high-speed serial communications on all 16 channels and TransGuard surge
  7. suppression on all signals. The newest member of Tekdata's ACL family of
  8. intelligent multi-port serial boards, the ACL MC16 is the highest-performing
  9. product of its type for the Micro Channel, designed to support speeds greater
  10. than 38.4K baud simultaneously on all 16 channels; programmable to 115.2K baud.
  11. Used to connect serial devices to systems with Micro Channel Architecture (MCA)
  12. running under UNIX, Citrix MULTIUSER, OS/2 and DOS, the 16-port ACL MC16 is
  13. three times faster than the company's original intelligent board for the Micro
  14. Channel and it supports twice as many ports from a single slot. When equipped
  15. with multiple ACL MC16 boards, a typical MCA system easily supports up to 64
  16. active users. The on-board 16MHz microprocessor offloads the host CPU of many
  17. housekeeping and communication chores, freeing the host to process user
  18. applications. Besides a more powerful 16MHz on-board microprocessor, the ACL
  19. 16MC's speed and performance is further enhanced by a new generation of 20MHz
  20. RISC-based (Reduced Instruction Set Computing) communications chips,
  21. specifically designed to optimise serial communications including the buffering
  22. of data using on-chip FIFOs. The RISC-based chips also contain special
  23. character processing often required for UNIX-based applications. Offered with
  24. fully shielded cables.
